My feet sink into the sand as I look out at the smoke billowing over the mountain. In one night the fire spread from 2400 acres to over 5600 and continues to grow. A few of my employees have even been evacuated and the power continues to go on and off throughout the city.

As you can already tell it's been a somewhat stressful week. Along with getting people prepared for their trips to India, Thailand, and Hong Kong. I also attempted to help people get ready to get out of their houses. The fire is located in Goleta an area right outside of Santa Barbara and has now burned about 65,000 acres of the Los Padres National Forest. It's been quite a strange experience for me. Those little white things raining down upon the streets aren't snow... they're ash.

Even with the fires going... all is still pretty well. This work week was insanely busy. We had to get everything... and I mean EVERYTHING together for our manufactures in Thailand, Hong Kong, and India. I did various jobs such as making color guides of all the fabrics, measurements of all the clothes, typing many many papers, and organizing everything. I was working a minimum of nine hours a day and most days would be the second person in the office. But, I love it. I could not possibly ask for a better job. It truly is a dream come true working for Horny Toad. I am working my butt off and according to co-worker Chris B "Work way too hard"... It's all good though. I love every job that I am given and have been learning sooooooooo much.

I also love the people I work with. Karinda and Ellen have pretty much decided that I am their little minion and no one else can use me. It is hilarious. They always keep a smile on my face and are actually interested in showing me around town and including me. Another amazing person at work is my boss Julie, she is so amazing. She pretty much just finds the perfect little jobs for me, but also for the most part lets me go off on my own. She has truly been taking care of me... to the point of letting me stay at her house when I needed a break from the host family.

Speaking of which... after about 2 weeks here. I have found a new house to stay in. I have been living with Jen and Craig, and their two boys Luke and Jackson. Jen has got to be the sweetest women I have met and her kids are so wonderful... except for when you need to sleep and then be out of the house by 7. It does not happen when there is a one year old in the house. Sooo, a few of my coworkers offered for me to live with them. So on tuesday I will be off to live with Paige, Katina, Kim, Joey and Fern (the cat). Jen and Craig have been amazing, taking in a 17 year old is no easy task and I could not thank them enough for taking me in. With out them I would probably not have been able to get to come out here.

This week has been so insane; work, housing, fires. But, there is nothing like a fun weekend full of beaches, bbqs, birthday celebrations and fireworks. The fourth of july was so amazing here. I spent the entire day on the beach with some friends. Went in the ocean here for the first time... a sea lion swam ten feet away from me and scared the crud out of me... then some dolphins came and then it was time to head back to the house. A nice bbq, some amazing games of corn hole; which team slightly more tan i.e. nick, lauren and I rocked at!!! Then it was on our bikes and too the beach for the fireworks. Well actually more like to work to sit on the back porch due to lazyness and not wanting to deal with the crowds on the beach. And thank god I wasn't on the beach because there ended up being gang problems and 3 people got stabbed... i kid you not.

So overall things here are absolutely insane... and I could not be happier. In the next few weeks I will be working on my own designs which may even show up in the spring 2010 line up. We will see though I am mainly just doing it so I can see every little process that the clothing industry has. Can't wait for the weeks to come and the more post i'll get to write!!! :)
