Week Three... Living the Dream
Such an interesting week; saying goodbye to the old and starting the new. This week I moved into my new house with my coworkers and it truly is amazing. Rock band, my own nice room, amazing room mates. It is so much more than I could ask for.
That's not all that is new though. The biggest part of my week was actually getting my designs together. I got all of my first drafts in and now am working on new sketches. I am working on a dress, top and yoga pants. It is so much fun designing clothes and a lot more work than it seems. You need to put in certain details and yet it can't have too much going on. So for all of this, you need inspiration and to find this inspiration you need to go check out all of your competition.
So for most of this week I have been going around to all of the stores in Santa Barbara and looking for things I like on all the clothes. Then after all of the inspiration trips I had to pick out my favorite details and put them into my design. It is very strange putting a design together. You have to think about fabrics, lengths, designs. It is all very difficult and yet one of the most amazing experiences.
Another thing I have been doing this week is getting the final things ready for the fall 08 shoot. I have been through every article of clothing and I am done with all of the inventory. Now it is just time for them to do the shoot.
For this next week I will be finishing my dress design and getting it shipped off to Thailand with my boss. There they will look it over and develop a proto. I can not wait to see the product of my design. It is such a weird feeling to be thinking that people could possibly be wearing my clothing designs in 2010... AHHHHHHHHHH, FREAKY!!!
Overall, things are still truly amazing. I can't believe that my time at work is half way over. I feel like I am just now getting to know people and soon enough i'll have to leave. It is very sad, but at the same time I just have to live life to the fullest until I must go. This week will be very crazy, but I can not wait to get my design out :)
